Pioneer Woman Dies
Mrs. Caroline White, 85, Was Widow of Civil War Veteran.
Mrs. Caroline White, eighty-five years old, widow of Hugh White, a Civil War veteran and brick contractor, died early this morning at her home on the Maxwell road. He husband died in 1904.
Mrs. White came to this community seventy years ago from Spencer, Ind., in a covered wagon. She was the last survigin member of the family making that trip. Mrs. White was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving her are three sons, Al Jennings, Amazonia road; W. D. White, Wathena, Kan., and Thomas G. White, Maxwell road; one daughter, Mrs. C. A. Beede, Yuma, Colo; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The body is at Stamey’s mortuary and the funeral will be Monday afternoon in the Stamey’s chapel. Burial will be in the Green Cemetery on the Amazonia road.
